        Senior Specialist/Manager – Office of the Operating Committee (OC)

        Join our Office of the OC (Operating Committee) team in Hyderabad

        We are looking for an inquisitive, collaborative, highly articulate, and data-driven professional to join the Office of the OC as a Senior Specialist or Manager in DESIS Hyderabad, India. D. E. Shaw India (DESIS) is led by a three-member Operating Committee, and the OC works collectively to manage the day-to-day operations and chart the strategic course for the firm. This collaborative leadership model sets us apart and reflects our core principles. This role reports to the Chief of Staff (OC Office). The candidate should be self-assured, responsibly expressive, and comfortable working with volatility, ambiguity, and uncertainty. Moreover, the candidate should have impressive analytical, project management, communication, and documentation (knowledge management) skills.

        What you’ll do day-to-day

        In this role, you will have broad insights into the firm’s strategy and operations, opportunities to deliver significant impact by continually striving to improve firmwide practices and processes, as well as considerable potential for professional learning and growth. Along with senior colleagues in the OC’s office, you will aid the OC Chief of Staff in program managing firmwide goals, including planning, estimating, and monitoring, collaborating with leadership stakeholders, and reporting progress in a periodic and structured manner. You will be expected to establish rapport and coordinate with internal stakeholders (including senior business unit heads) in India and the firm’s global offices on various strategic priorities and action items. Further, you will research and synthesize data from disparate sources to develop recommendations for the OC by identifying data sources and owners relevant for the business imperative and building statistical analysis and modeling to inform decisions. You will be responsible for creating materials and recording minutes for various OCO meetings, as well as managing the subsequent actions required. Additionally, you will maintain the OC internal knowledge repository (SharePoint, Confluence pages), ensuring accurate version control and archiving of reports, presentations, and data insights related to group and firm-level events and projects, in collaboration with technology and research teams.

        Who we’re looking for

        Basic qualifications:

        • A Bachelor’s degree and 3 to 6 years of professional experience with the maturity to respect and adhere to the highest ethical and confidentiality standards
        • Excellent analytical, organizational, and communication abilities with must-have expertise in MS Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
        • A flair for writing, the ability to write detailed business proposals, firm-wide communication articles and blogs, quarterly and semi-annual reports
        • The ability to be adept at context switching between multiple projects with volatile priorities

         

        Preferred qualifications:

        • An MBA degree
