        Associate – D. E. Shaw Renewable Investments (Accounts Payable)

        D. E. Shaw Renewable Investments (“DESRI”) develops, acquires, builds, owns, and operates solar, wind, and battery storage projects throughout the United States. DESRI currently owns, operates, or has an exclusivity agreement or signed purchase and sale agreement in place with respect to more than 10 GW of solar and wind assets in the U.S. across 76+ projects. DESRI is run by a dynamic team headquartered in New York, with offices located at Denver and Hyderabad (India). We are looking for a resourceful candidate to join our DESRI group based out of the firm’s office in Hyderabad, India. The Accounts Payable (AP) Team at DESRI manages the firm's outgoing payments, ensuring that all invoices and expenses are processed accurately and efficiently. They maintain robust relationships with vendors and ensure compliance with financial policies and procedures. The candidate will be part of the Accounts Payable team and will regularly interact with U.S. and Hyderabad-based teams, as well as external parties.

        What you’ll do day-to-day

        You will be required to set up vendors from the W9 form, 1099 annual IRS filing, and manage administration in the Workday accounting and payment platform. You will process supplier invoices on DESRI’s Workday accounting and payment platforms. You will capture all invoices for payment, select appropriate payment terms, investigate past due balances, and comply with company policies and procedures for processing invoices. Additionally, you will collaborate with colleagues in Hyderabad and the U.S. to ensure accurate processing of invoices and related activities. You will also liaise with suppliers and asset managers to obtain missing invoices, scrutinize invoices, and resolve queries and vendor payment issues. You will be required to prepare and update daily, weekly, and monthly reports related to AP in FloQast. Providing support to the DESRI Asset Management team on the monthly draw payment process will be an expectation. You will handle American Express monthly payments for employees of DESRI-USA along with site visit reimbursements. You will work on cleaning the aging report on a monthly basis, collaborate with the treasury team to pay all necessary invoices, and initiate payment requests. You will also collaborate with the U.S. team, treasury team, and accounting team to process cash settlement runs and manage the reconciliation process. Moreover, you will be responsible for publishing monthly, quarterly, and annual reporting of AP activities. You will identify and pursue opportunities to improve the efficiency, timeliness, and control of DESRI’s accounts payable processes and implement new tools.

        Who we’re looking for

        Basic qualifications:

         

        • A B. Com degree, an MBA in Finance, or any other equivalent degree with 1 year or less of Accounts Payable experience
        • A solid understanding of accounting and experience in process optimization
        • Keen attention to detail, the ability to self-learn, and robust teamplaying abilities
        • Excellent written and verbal communication skills

         

        Preferred qualifications:

        • Previous experience in the renewable energy sector
