        Join our Financial Research team in Hyderabad

        We are looking for a resourceful candidate to join our DESRI group, based in the firm’s office in Hyderabad, India. The candidate will be part of DESRI’s tax function and will regularly interact with U.S. and Hyderabad-based teams, as well as external parties. D. E. Shaw Renewable Investments (“DESRI”) develops, acquires, builds, owns, and operates solar and wind renewable energy generation facilities in the U.S.A. DESRI currently owns, operates, or has an exclusivity agreement or signed purchase and sale agreement in place with respect to more than 8.7 GW of solar and wind assets in the U.S. across 80+ projects. DESRI is run by a dynamic team and is headquartered in New York, with offices located in Boston, Denver, and Hyderabad (India).

        What you’ll do day-to-day

        In this role, you will oversee and manage the tax function, which encompasses tax compliance for renewable projects located across multiple states in the U.S. and other corporate entities, as well as tax planning for transactions effectuated for different power projects within the portfolio. You will be required to interact cross-functionally to formulate, analyze, monitor, and implement strategy, compliance, and finance management for direct and indirect taxes. You will be expected to engage in tax modelling and various forms of accounting, management, and investor reporting, including partnership accounting, hypothetical liquidation at book value (HLBV) modelling, yield tracking, deferred taxation (ASC 740), and budget versus actual analysis. You will liaise with U.S. and Hyderabad-based team members, asset managers, treasury and tax team, external consultants, and tax authorities for various tax-related matters. You will also work on initiatives related to establishing, standardizing, optimizing, and documenting tax processes, workflows, and controls.

        Who we’re looking for

        • The candidate should be a Chartered Accountant / Certified Public Accountant / Master of Business Administration, with 5-8 years of post-qualification work experience
        • Candidates with prior experience in the energy, real estate, or financial services sectors will have an added advantage
        • The candidate should understand tax laws, assessments, and taxes in the U.S. with the ability to read and interpret federal and state guidance, agreements, and contracts accurately
        • The ideal candidate should have a proven track record of both managing a team and building out processes and operations with excellent leadership, judgement, and organizational skills
        • Candidate should possess excellent written and spoken communication skills and the ability to work independently with limited direction and guidance
