        Lead/AV Engineer (Systems)

        The D. E. Shaw group seeks a talented technologist to join its Systems team as an A/V technician. Our Systems team builds, maintains, and supports the firm’s complex computer and network infrastructure. This position offers the opportunity to collaborate with top technologists and work with new A/V technology, unified communication platforms, and state-of-the-art equipment in an inclusive and engaging working environment.

        What you’ll do day-to-day

        You’ll be responsible for a variety of conference room and A/V support and project work. Some responsibilities may include: acting as the primary escalation point for conference room, web conferencing, and A/V issues, maintaining documentation related to A/V and conference room technology, providing training to other members of the Systems team on deploying new A/V technology, assisting with A/V and conference room-related project management, and evaluating current and newer technologies that relate to A/V and collaboration across the firm.

        Who we’re looking for

        • Applicants should have a minimum of three years of relevant experience, a background in technical troubleshooting and desktop support, and familiarity with A/V concepts and enterprise collaboration technologies
        • Applicants should have experience of setting up AV for hosting events which are generally formal events and informal events. Formal events could be townhalls, speaker series etc whereas informal events could be plays, music club shows, etc
        • Substantial PC hardware and Windows knowledge, along with a core understanding of basic networking concepts, are both preferred. Prior experience working with Cisco UC server technologies is beneficial, as is experience with web conferencing platforms (e.g., WebEx, Zoom) and automation systems (e.g., Crestron). Experience with Python, JavaScript, and/or other scripting languages is a plus but is not required
        • Excellent interpersonal, communication, and organizational skills are critical, as is a keen attention to detail and a customer service mindset. A genuine interest in technology and a desire to learn and leverage technology for creative problem solving are also essential
        • Some flexibility in working hours is required, as the technician will provide A/V support for various evening events
