        Lead Analyst/Principal Analyst – Asset Backed Strategies (CMBS/CRE Research)

        We are looking for an experienced and dynamic individual to join our Asset Back Strategies (ABS) team, within our Financial Research group based in Gurugram, Bengaluru, and Hyderabad, India with a focus on Commercial Mortgage Backed Securities (CMBS). The group works with the Global ABS front office to provide in-depth analytical support to the investment research and decision-making processes of the firm’s proprietary investment activity in the ABS markets. This role is critical to our investment decision-making process, requiring a deep understanding of structured finance and the ability to generate actionable research ideas that can be converted into trades.

        What you’ll do day-to-day

        In this role, you will support the front office in conducting comprehensive research and in-depth analysis of CMBS/CRE loans and bonds, including investment analysis, property/bond valuation and cash flow modeling. This will involve, but is not limited to, developing bespoke financial models, performing data and investment analysis, conducting relative value analysis for potential investment opportunities in CMBS, generating innovative research ideas related to the sector, and effectively collaborating with the trading desk to execute them. Additionally, you will be required to conduct detailed loan and property analysis of CMBS collateral in both new issue and secondary markets, monitor and evaluate the performance of existing investments, provide timely recommendations to the desk based on market events and internal risk assessments. Geographical focus for our CMBS investments is in the USA.

        Who we’re looking for

        Basic Qualifications: 

        • A finance degree (MBA) or an equivalent qualification
        • At least 5 years of experience in financial research or analysis, with an exceptional focus on CMBS or CRE investments
        • The ability to generate research ideas and convert them into actionable investment strategies
        • Proficiency in financial modeling and market research
        • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to present complex information clearly and persuasively
        • A strong attention to detail and the ability to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines
        • A proven ability to work effectively in a team-oriented environment

        Preferred Qualifications:

        • A CFA designation, or progress towards obtaining the CFA charter
