Financial Research and Operations

The Financial Research and Operations group works extensively with portfolio managers, traders, quantitative and qualitative analysts, accountants, operations personnel, tax specialists, and treasury professionals to provide accounting and settlement support to the D. E. Shaw group's global investment activities. DESIS staff also participates in the development of the D. E. Shaw group's investment strategies, analyses financial data, carries out detailed company and sector analysis, creates and maintains large databases, analyses capital allocation and optimization processes, creates reports, analyses money movement, and executes special research projects. The group supports an extensive range of mission-critical processes, and works closely with the technology group to effect trade execution, settlement automation, and exception analysis.
